Doomed before it could bloom

Little will be let known of Benazir Bhutto that who killed her?
A tragic loss for Pakistan; Certainly she fell a victim to the bigger Neocon’s games in this area.

Feeling deeply sorry for a bud; dwindled right on its stem before it could blossom.

The real question is the link between the ISI and Al-Qaeda...then the link between USA and PAkistan. A dangerous game isn't it?

Russ,

Pakistan has thee patrons: US, China and Saudi Arabia.
http://chinamatters.blogspot.com/2007/11/in-shadow-of-lal-masjid.html

Pakistan and Iran don't have really friendly relationship.
Telling how pakistan to use the money is fool hardy. As was
the official laws of US was to prevent nuclear transfer but
state dept and cia would look the other way over and over.
furthermore, US knew that pakistan was trading nuclear
secrets in order to get missile technology from North korea and
only revealed it the world after 9/11. The duplicity will continue
as it is in your national interest.

Morris, with his commanding and dramatic style, filled in some of the gaps in my knowledge of Pakistan.

Meanwhile we always hear how military aid that the US sends Pakistan's way is diverted to the ISI or to the struggle with India over Kashmir instead of to reining in militants. What I've never seen explained is why American administrations refrain from retaining some say-so over how this money is spent.

If we put some stipulations on how it's allocated, do we actually think Musharraf would turn it down? Is, say, Iran prepared to give him that much money?

This is a very interesting story. I was unaware how much we played a part in the whole Pakistani mess. I was watching videos of her assassination on YouTube a few days ago... and, having served in Iraq... I couldn't help but feel the tragedy that many of those people are experiencing. Thanks for the article... it was eye-opening to say the least!
