The leaks didn't tell much that was new to those who have been following events from outside the brainwashing of US media, but the important aspect of them is that, for a first if very tentative time, members of the US public have been brought face to face with the unsavoury truths.

What they do with the information will be the bigger story.

As with all fraudulent scams, eventually the truth emerges. If the Government, be it the C.I.A., State Department, the Private Contractors, etc., didn't enable the corruption taking center stage to try and cover the now exposed atrocities, along with the Congress authorizing the many Billions more for the cover up, then maybe we wouldn't be witnessing this tragic operation. The same can be said for Iraq. A good question to be asked by the American public is: "Who is going to protect you when all the treasury is gone, the looters left you with nothing to defend with"? The Government/M.S.M./D.O.D./State Dept. , even the P.O.T.U.S. collaborate in covering up this failure, doesn't really leave much wiggle room.

The WikiLeaks documents provide a better picture of the information that the gate-keepers and "embedded" reporters never got from the military -- or were sworn to not report. That's why the documents, while certainly no Pentagon Papers, are still important.
