The Guardian has always been the leader of the pack—certainly from the 50’s when I noticed the (then) Manchester Guardian was the most reliable (ie, told fewer politically engendered lies) than any of the other British newspapers I delivered on my morning newspaper route. It is the flagship of honest journalism and puts most other newspapers to shame — certainly 99.99% of the US ones. Look at the new news outlets that are consciously modelling themselves on its methods, such as Al Jazeera.
Nobody wedded to truth and fair comment would model themselves on a Murdoch newspaper.
