I have no doubt that the government in Syria are a bunch of oppressors — but — equally so, I have no reason whatsoever to believe that a Saudi/Gulf Stare Sunni backed uprising is going to replace it with anything better. One the one hand, we have the awful Syrian government, but on the other hand ( even though the ordinary peoples’ uprising itself is obviously genuine ) we have the financial backing and fire power of the worst Salafists and Wahhabi-ites.
