Obama’s indecision on Libya has pushed Clinton over the edge

The Daily reports:

Fed up with a president “who can’t make his mind up” as Libyan rebels are on the brink of defeat, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is looking to the exits.

At the tail end of her mission to bolster the Libyan opposition, which has suffered days of losses to Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s forces, Clinton announced that she’s done with Obama after 2012 — even if he wins again.

“Obviously, she’s not happy with dealing with a president who can’t decide if today is Tuesday or Wednesday, who can’t make his mind up,” a Clinton insider told The Daily. “She’s exhausted, tired.”

He went on, “If you take a look at what’s on her plate as compared with what’s on the plates of previous Secretaries of State — there’s more going on now at this particular moment, and it’s like playing sports with a bunch of amateurs. And she doesn’t have any power. She’s trying to do what she can to keep things from imploding.”

Clinton is said to be especially peeved with the president’s waffling over how to encourage the kinds of Arab uprisings that have recently toppled regimes in Egypt and Tunisia, and in particular his refusal to back a no-fly zone over Libya.

In the past week, former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton’s former top adviser Anne-Marie Slaughter lashed out at Obama for the same reason.

The tension has even spilled over into her dealings with European diplomats, with whom she met early this week.

When French president Nicolas Sarkozy urged her to press the White House to take more aggressive action in Libya, Clinton repeatedly replied only, “There are difficulties,” according to Foreign Policy magazine.

“Frankly we are just completely puzzled,” one of the diplomats told Foreign Policy magazine. “We are wondering if this is a priority for the United States.”

Or as the insider described Obama’s foreign policy shop: “It’s amateur night.”

We should be looking to the Clintons for advice on dealing with dictators and despots? They’re both the most power hungry self-serving politicos of the WWII era. Give me a break. Hillary “HB and I are good friends” Clinton? This analysis is inside the establishment conventional wisdom. It’s useless.

It’s interesting that she’s letting her frustration with Obama leak. What’s her strategy here?

The objective of the broom’s carrying of water in Goethe’s delightful poem “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” was to fill some large container with water but because the apprentice did not know the magic word that would stop the broom, the place soon became flooded until the master returned.
Both Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton are worse than the Sorcerer’s Apprentice because they insist on magic actions without having any clear idea of what the ultimate objective of these actions should be. At least they have not stated what their ultimate objective is. There are two fundamental issues that must be addressed. Is it desirable that Libya remains a unified country and if so who is to govern it, Tripolitanians or Cyrenaicans? It appears that President Obama is tossing a coin every morning when he wakes up. I hope that he will keep tossing the coin because no good can come from acting on a coin toss. What is needed are carefully thought through actions. I hope that president Obama keeps thinking and not acting rashly as Mrs. Clinton appears to be wanting to do.
Sarkozy? He is the Sancho Panza of Europe who speculated that the insurgents would win and grant his country the ‘island’ of preferred Libyan oil contracts . Talking to him is an idiotic waste of time.
The greatest insult to Africa and the Islamic world would be to act militarily in Libya in concert with the collection of ex-colonial gang-rapers of France, Britain, Spain, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Germany (S.W. Africa!).

The first sign of a major split in the Obama administration is welcome news to those who see the Obama presidency as the worst thing that ever happened to the progressive cause in the US. Who needs an opposition when one’s chief spokesman is the biggest opponent of progressive measures?

Under Obama, the US has looked more and more like a single party state operating under two banners. The only contest between these two factions has been to gain the greatest war chest to secure their election in the next publicity show that pretends to be a democratic election.

The Tea Party and the Walkers have done more for ‘down home’ America by waking up those who have lost their financial futures and were about to lose their political options as well. The US needs a new political regime as badly as did Egypt — time to clear away the dead wood and start anew.

    Major Breaking News:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/17/libya-no-fly-zone-united-nations

Britain, France and the US, along with several Arab countries, are to join forces to throw a protective ring around the Libyan rebel stronghold of Benghazi as soon as a UN security council vote on military action is authorised, according to security council sources.

A source at UN headquarters in New York said military forces could be deployed “within hours” of a new security council resolution calling for states to protect civilians by halting attacks by Muammar Gaddafi’s forces by air, land and sea.

The resolution would impose a no-fly zone over Libya – but a no-fly zone was no longer enough, the source said. “The resolution authorises air strikes against tank columns advancing on Benghazi or engaging naval ships bombarding Benghazi,” he said.

The security council was scheduled to vote on the new resolution this evening, and its backers expressed confidence it would pass after hours of negotiation.

    Gaddaffi’s government response:

In a statement broadcast on Libyan television, the defence ministry said: “Any foreign military act against Libya will expose all air and maritime traffic in the Mediterranean Sea to danger, and civilian and military [facilities] will become targets of Libya’s counterattack,” the statement said. “The Mediterranean basin will face danger not just in the short-term, but also in the long-term.”

Well looks like there is strong chance all the “humanitarian interventionists” have got their new War if the Guardian article is to be believed. AFP also reporting that France’s foreign minister has just given a speech saying he expects a military strike “quickly following the UN vote”.

    Well said Dieter.

Your last paragraph describes “Responsibility To Protect” perfectly. Keep an eye out for that phrase my friends. When you here it and you’re living in a country or a under a regime out of favor with the west grab what you can carry and run for your lives.

Yes Obaoba is just another WAR CRIMINAL in chief, and as Gore Vidal said: “He is weak and will leave office less popular than Bush”. That is what you get when you elect a BRAND.
It is not the poor War Criminal Hillary Clinton has too much on her plate. The fact is the US is loosing ground in the entire Globe! Deservely so!
This sound like Roman empire news created for the delusionist of Rome.

It seems that the only thing “O” has going is his mouth. As for Hillary, she has her own baggage, namely “Bill”. As much as the female persuasion in the U.S. is concerned, at least on the Democratic side goes, she can do no wrong. Remember, the same thing happened to Powell. It’s telling that she would want to stay around, knowing that the only thing she’s going to get accomplished is to prop “O” up. Sure would be interesting to see him trade places then see where his talk gets him. Ge gas drunk his own kool-aid.

  9. M. Smith

Well Paul and all the interventionists out there it looks like you got your wish. The murderous gangsters are coming to the rescue once again! UN resolution passed!

God help those under the onslaught of western military power.
