Thanks for highlighting this series – informative and stimulating.
“why no one believes you can change the world for the better any more”
Which seems obviously wrong, yet implicit in the choices and attitudes of many people today. It is a belief that is self-fulfilling and deeply corrosive.
Though it was fascinating throughout, the structure of this series seemed to break down a little in this last episode. It is disappointing that the philosophical issues were left substantially unaddressed, though that is a limitation of the medium and format. But it would be worth watching if for no other reason than to see how even the most intelligent and academically gifted people can wander unwittingly down narrow alleyways of error, sometimes to a degree that they become unhinged, with tragic consequences for them and others.
