Israel is turning itself into a ghetto; but it’s a ghetto of privilege, not oppression. The rich are ‘isolated’ too, behind gated communitiesa and ‘police protection’, but as long as they control resources and military/police forces their isolation does not affect them. In fact it adds to their privilege and to the oppression of their neighbours. This is not a ‘good neighbour fence’ as the speaker claimed. Rather it is a paranoid, controlling, oppressive and violent neighbour which has made itself a pariah.
