Eastwood was channeling Ronald Reagan for the viewing audience. His line ‘We own this country’ was referring to the 1% base he was standing in front of, not the viewing mobs. And his triumphal exceptionalism was pandering to the bazillionaires who paid his fee. But really, watching it live, think Eastwood was speaking in tongues and Ghost Dancing. His world-model has fallen and broken, like the snow globe in Citizen Kane . Rosebud.
