Borris Johnson writes:
It is not yet clear whether George W Bush is planning to cross the Atlantic to flog us his memoirs, but if I were his PR people I would urge caution. As book tours go, this one would be an absolute corker. It is not just that every European capital would be brought to a standstill, as book-signings turned into anti-war riots. The real trouble — from the Bush point of view — is that he might never see Texas again.
One moment he might be holding forth to a great perspiring tent at Hay-on-Wye. The next moment, click, some embarrassed member of the Welsh constabulary could walk on stage, place some handcuffs on the former leader of the Free World, and take him away to be charged. Of course, we are told this scenario is unlikely. Dubya is the former leader of a friendly power, with whom this country is determined to have good relations. But that is what torture-authorising Augusto Pinochet thought. And unlike Pinochet, Mr Bush is making no bones about what he has done.
Unless the 43rd president of the United States has been grievously misrepresented, he has admitted to authorising and sponsoring the use of torture. Asked whether he approved of “waterboarding” in three specific cases, he told his interviewer that “damn right” he did, and that this practice had saved lives in America and Britain. It is hard to overstate the enormity of this admission.
I hope Bush, Chenney, Perle, Wolfowitz, that dog C. Rice, Powell, Gates, Yoo, Bybee, that other animal D. Feith, Obama, Clintons (Both war criminals), Pertraues, Mullen, MacChrystal and everybody else that makes the War Criminal USA Ltd. face one day accountability for their hiddeous crimes.
If not, I sincerely hope they get some sort of horrible cancer and slowly suffer with it. All of them!
That’s an excellent article by Boris Johnson in the Daily Telegraph, and well worth reading in full.
It would be great to have it published in US and Australian newspapers, but that’s extremely unlikely.
Thanks for publishing it.

No, Vince,
It’s not enough for the bastards to suffer. The whole world needs everyone who supports such bastards, to find a more efficient way of thinking, than whatever had them making things difficult for those who would protest.
Good ol’ FDR put it “We have nothing to fear but fear itself” – shocking how the US people have failed to see that, behind their militaristic posturing, they have become hysterical scaredy- cats. Thanks to News International (?) – I mean the Murdoch media -the infection is visible in the UK etc. I don’t think the process has gone quite so far on this side of the Atlantic, but the power puppets of World Inc are working towards the blissful state of the States, and are almost unopposed. Even Boris Johnson, in the last analysis, as we used to say, is on the side of Power, not of justice. The role of Blair in backing Bush can, of course, hardly be exaggerated, so that , with Blair apologists alive and doing rather well over here,over-paid the drift away from hitherto decency proceeds. What must strike anyone over , say, fifty, is that this degraded public intercourse is presented as virtuous.Common Courage should be the norm, not the craven pseudo-fascism of the US Right and its panders this side.

This is the time for the American people to wake up, start the revolution if you may, but unless the other side uses force, then mass demonstrations like those that occurred during the 60’s stand a chance of success. Of course, if force is called upon, then it should be met. I don’t believe that things have changed that much today, from days past, considering that there are over 1,500,000 veterans of the Bush wars that have been & are being given the short end of the stick today, especially from the Congress. Perhaps one can add the 20,000,000 + unemployed to those of the vets, along with the foreclosed former homeowners, which I don’t think the powers to be can control the rage that is brewing today. The P.O.T.U.S. & the Congress should get their collective heads out of the bubble and see the misery that has taken hold in this country.
