What planet do these people live on?

A letter signed by 300 members of Congress and sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declares:

A strong Israel is an asset to the national security of the United States and brings stability to the Middle East.

What an accomplishment! That so many fallacies could be packed into a single sentence!

But the lunacy isn’t confined to Congress. Right in the middle of what is being described as the worst rift in US-Israeli relations in decades, when it comes to the business of business it’s business as usual:

Even as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received the full wrath of the Obama administration, the Defense Ministry and Pentagon were concluding yet another huge deal.

Israel will buy three new Hercules-J transport aircraft, built by Lockheed Martin, at a cost of $250 million. The planes will be manufactured according to Israeli specifications and include many systems produced by Israeli military suppliers.

The deal goes to show that a continuing diplomatic crisis between Israel and the United States has still to make itself felt as far as defense relations are concerned.

Isn’t it time that the U.S. started using the Israeli mantra – “Never again” – when it comes to placing yet another jury-rigged stabilizer under the tottering edifice? The “300 letter” also contains the following telling sentence; “Our valuable bilateral relationship with Israel needs and deserves constant reinforcement.” Certainly, that relationship continues to cost every U.S. citizen $1,000 a year, and serves to line the pockets of Hercules-J manufacturers and their kin.

I repeat a position I’ve written before, this so called riff & reconciliation we have been subjected to for awhile, is camouflage for something bigger. Consider that the Military shipped many many of those so called bunker busting bombs to storage in the Indian Ocean recently, ginning up the military forces, i.e., Israeli & American, doesn’t take much imagination to figure out the moves being contemplated over in the middle east. The facts seem to be leaning that way, so the congress can give lip service, but forget any involvement beyond. Let Israel attach, if they lose, that’s on them. America needs to keep its nose out of Middle eastern affairs, if they want to destroy themselves, so be it.
